NOW FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT, AND ONCE AGAIN LOCAL.
JASON STRINGO'S BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU TEAM COMPETED IN HOUSTON AT THE BATTLE OF H TOWN LAST WEEKEND, COMPETING AGAINST OTHER BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU TEAMS FROM ACROSS THE NATION. 8 OF 9 STUDENTS PLACED IN THE TOP 3.
"Out of 55 teams, we placed 5th", said Stringo. "We had 5 kids who got 1st winning by submission with an armbar or choke, which is ultimately the goal of jiu jitsu."
"You can do this and go out to tournaments and win", said Grant McDaniel, third place winner at Battle of H-Town. "It's just a fun experience and stuff."
"I got first place", said Joseph Aguilar, first place winner at Battle of H-Town. "I got 3 submissions and 1 by points."
"I worked hard on my arm bars, my takedowns and my submissions", said Anastasia Monroy, first place champ at Battle of H-Town. "I got 2 submissions. I won 1st and 3rd. 1st in the girls and 3rd in the boys."
"The good part was I won 3 matches in a row", said Cassie Hernandez, first place winner at Battle of H-Town. "That made me feel good. I like it because its when you win you have that good feeling. When you lose, your like, okay, I have to do better."
THOSE FOLKS TALKED WITH OUR CHASE GALLIMORE. STRINGO'S JIU JITSU TEAM WILL RETURN TO COMPETITION NOVEMBER 10TH AT THE SOUTH TEXAS GRAPPLERS CHALLENGE IN CORPUS CHRISTI.
