ON THE ORIGINAL FOOTBALL SCHEDULE, THE VIPERS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE TONIGHT OFF, AND THEY DO.  ON THE ORIGINAL VOLLEYBALL SCHEDULE, THE VIPERS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE TONIGHT OFF, AND THEY DO.
ON THE ORIGINAL CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULE, THE VIPERS WERE SUPPOSED TO RUN IN A MEET TOMORROW IN SEGUIN.
THEN ON TUESDAY, HEAD COACH BILL JACKSON WAS INFORMED THAT THE DISTRICT 27-5A CHAMPIONSHIP WAS THIS SATURDAY.  WHOA.  WAS THAT BIG A CHANGE THAT FOR THE RUNNERS?
"Not really", said Jordan Draper\District Runnerup 2005-06. "We're about as good as we'll get next week.  We have a couple of girls in the training room, so it affects that, but other than that we're ready to compete, so we might as well. "
"Yeah it was", said Eloy Levario, Viper Boys Cross Country Runner.  "It was a shock at first when one of my teammates called me and I didn't believe him."
"It was big because Monday and Tuesday we practiced hard and then we had people in the training room and they were going to take this week and then go next week", said Lorenzo Ramirez, Viper Boys Cross Country Runner.  "How good are your chances of winning District as a team?  We could have a chance but at the same time we have some guys hurt and that affects the team.  We have a slight chance. We got a new runner on our team as a fifth man so we could get it.  We're shaky, probably won't get a first, but we'll just compete and do our best and hope to move on as team to Regionals. "
THE VIPERS RUN IN THE 27-5A CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP AT SOUTHWEST IN SAN ANTONIO TOMORROW MORNING.  GIRLS RUN AT TEN, BOYS RUN AT 10:30.
