OUR ATHLETE OF THE WEEK THIS TIME, ANOTHER NOMINATION, ONCE AGAIN FROM VOLLEYBALL, ONCE AGAIN FROM PALACIOS.
JENNA TREYBIG IS ONE OF THE JUNIORS THAT FORM THE HEART OF THE HISTORY-MAKING PALACIOS VOLLEYBALL TEAM. ON THE SEASON, THE SHARKETTES CAPTAIN AND THREE-YEAR STARTER HAS 347 KILLS, 307 DIGS AND 42 ACES. IN THEIR HISTORIC REGIONAL QUARTERS WIN OVER SINTON, TREYBIG CAME UP BIG, LEADING THE SHARKETTES WITH 29 KILLS AND 21 DIGS.
"
I feel like I'm a leader, but everybody contributes, not just me, with our spirit, our enthusiasm and how we all work hard and play together", said Treybig. "We do everything together. We're like sisters. We're always together. We are bonded and we love each other. A lot of us were together last year and that helped. This year we've just been together all the time and we're best friends."
"Oh we have a very strong bond", said Audrey Kubecka, Palacios Middle Blocker. "We get together every weekend and we stay strong and that's what makes our team so great. We work together and we're so close to each other that it makes us play better together.
"Oh it's a strong bond, not just the juniors but the freshmen and the seniors on this team", said Chelsey Kubecka, Palacios Middle Blocker. "We all work well together and we all are best friends, really."

IT'S ALSO A FAMILY AFFAIR UP IN THE STANDS. JENNA'S DAD, PALACIOS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR MIKE TREYBIG, SWEATS OUT THE COMPETITION JUST LIKE HIS DAUGHTER.
"I'm a much better coach than I am a parent", said Treybig. "As a parent, all you can do is stand there and watch. As a coach you feel you can do something at practice and in the games to help the kids. As a parent, it's a helpless feeling. They just keep stepping up week after week and playing good volleyball."
FRIDAY AFTERNOON, BOTH JENNA'S PALACIOS TEAM AND YOAKUM WILL PLAY AT THE 3A REGIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT AT BLOSSOM ATHLETIC CENTER IN S.A.  PALACIOS FACES LA VERNIA AT 1:00, YOAKUM TAKES ON WIMBERLEY AT THREE.
DAD TREYBIG WILL NOT BE THERE. HE'LL BE TAKING THE SHARKS FOOTBALL TEAM TO YOAKUM, A WIN THERE FOR PALACIOS GIVES IT THE SCHOOL'S FIRST FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SPOT IN 43 YEARS.
