THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK THIS TIME HAS LED HIS TEAM TO A TIE FOR THE DISTRICT LEAD, AND HE'S NOT DONE YET. EARLIER THIS WEEK, OUR CHASE GALLIMORE TALKED WITH EDNA'S QUARTERBACK. THE NEWSCENTER 25 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK GOES TO EDNA HIGH SCHOL IN THE NAME OF KAM JONES. IN FRIDAY'S WIN OVER GANADO, THE COWBOYS QB THREW FOR TWO TOUCHDOWNS AND RAN FOR TWO MORE.
"Ganado is a big rival", said Jones. They came out pumped and scored on their first drive. But, coach told us to stay focused and we got the job done."
"This past Friday night, he was solid like he has been all season", said Rob Schoenfeld, Edna Football Head Coach. "He had over 200 yards passing and over 100 rushing. That's not out of the ordinary for him."
NOT OUT OF THE ORDINARY BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN PUTTING UP BIG NUMBERS ALL YEAR LONG. BUT, IT'S NOT JUST THE STATS THAT MAKE KAM JONES SO IMPRESSIVE
"He's been a really steady leader", said Schoenfeld. "His greatest attribute in addition to his athletic ability is that he's very even keel. Very calm and composed out there. He has qualities that are unusual for a sophomore."HE MAY BE A SOPHOMORE, BUT JUST LIKE ANY GOOD LEADER, JONES IS QUICK TO PRAISE THE GUYS AROUND HIM.
