ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK THIS TIME HAS EARNED THIS AWARD AS A SOPHOMORE AND AS A JUNIOR. NOW HE HAS THE THREE-PEAT, AS OUR CHASE GALLIMORE REPORTS FROM REFUGIO.
THE NEWSCENTER 25 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK IS CARL SWAIN FROM REUGIO HIGH SCHOOL. IN THE BOBCATS WIN OVER MATHIS, SWAIN RAN FOR 210 YARDS AND 3 TOUCHDOWNS.
"The coaches are excellent", said Swain. "Our lineman coach makes most of the lineman come up on Mondays to watch film. The lineman are a big key to my running ability."
"Carl's a real special player", said Jason Herring, Refugio Football head coach. "He can catch the ball out of the backfield, he can run the ball. he's a great leader. He was voted team captain. We're real thrillled he is on our football team."
BUT IT WASNT JUST ONE BIG GAME, ITS BEEN A SEASON OF SUCCESS. CARL SWAIN IS A BIG REASON THE BOBCATS ARE 4 - 0.

"Anytime you have a running back people have to key on, its gonna open other phases of the game", said Herring. "Our quarterback and receivers are able to have big games because of Carl. Teams have to respect him. He's a good kid. You like to see good things happen to good kids. I'm thrilled good things are happening for him. The team is coming together more. We are starting to play as one. Thats helping the team succeed a lot. The 4 - 0 record. The success we are going to have as the season goes on. The athlete of the week goes to Refugio High School in the name of Carl Swain. Thank you sir. I would like to thank the coaches and my teammates for helping me get this and sticking together as a team. Hopefully we go all the way to state."
EARLIER THIS YEAR, SWAIN EARNED THE DALLAS COWBOYS FORD MOTOR COMPANY STATE 2A PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD. THAT WILL BE PRESENTED TO HIM AT HALFTIME OF REFUGIO'S HOME GAME WITH GEORGE WEST ON OCTOBER 12TH.
