THE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK THIS TIME IS FROM VOLLEYBALL AND IT IS A NOMINATION. OUR CHASE GALLIMORE HITS THE COURT AT ST. JOE.
THE NEWSCENTER 25 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK GOES TO ST JOE HIGH SCHOOL IN THE NAME OF KATHLEEN CULLEN. CULLEN IS AN OUTSIDE HITTER FOR THE LADY FLYERS VOLLEYBALL TEAM AND HAS HELPED LEAD ST JOE TO AN UNDEFEATED DISTRICT RECORD.
"This group puts volleyball first", said Cullen. "We're a lot more dedicated than past year have been. We all want it really bad."
"Since district when shes on the court she ask a lot of questions", said Suzanne Valenzuela, Lady Flyers Volleyball Head Coach. "She'll put the ball there and when she does of course we get points for that. Her serving is consistent just like her passing. She asks where she should be. You can see her improvement."
KATHLEEN CULLEN HAS 443 DIGS ON THE YEAR TO GO WITH 233 KILLS AND 184 SERVICE POINTS. BUT TO GO ALONG WITH HER IMPRESSIVE PLAY SHE IS ALSO A LEADER ON THE COURT.
"I am pretty vocal on the court", said Cullen. "That's probably the main thing that helps our team. Being a senior, its my role to step up and help others."
"For her it's 100 % all the time", said Valenzuela. "She's motivating. She encourages her teammates to pick it up. Her being on the court adds that positive to get the team picking up the pace when we need to."

KATHLEEN AND THE LADY FLYERS HOST THEIR BI-DISTRICT PLAYOFF FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 5:30.
THE LADY FLYERS HOST HOUSTON LUTHERAN NORTH IN THE PLAYOFFS FOR THE FOURTH STRAIGHT YEAR. THE LAST THREE TIMES IT WAS IN THE REGIONAL ROUND, AND THE LADY FLYERS BEAT THEM LAST YEAR.
