The festival will be held Sunday December 9, 2007 from Noon till Midnight at the Riverside Multiplex.

WHAT IS  A.H.U.N.A.H.O? Quite simply, it's A Hand Up Not A Hand Out. A.H.U.N.A.H.O. Festival 2007  is coming! Coming to Riverside Multiplex Sunday, December 9th!  It's all about "Victorians helping Victorians" with live music on two stages, a "gong show" karaoke contest, door prizes, raffle drawings and other activities all designed to raise money for The Hope Chest in a fun filled Sunday outing for the whole family. And YOU can take part in making a difference!

For many years, The Hope Chest has provided valuable service to the community, serving the needs of low income families, employing the handicapped and providing emergency relief to those struck by disaster. But while providing assistance to those in need, The Hope Chest has had needs of it's own as well. The most imminent is the need for rebuilding the roof and ceiling which is badly weathered along with related electrical work. In early 2007, Dr. Dean McDaniel inititated a fund raising campaign to assist The Hope Chest after cuts were made in United Way funding. Though successful in terms of raising funds, this effort was not enough to cover needed repairs and maintain operating expenses as well.

A.H.U.N.A.H.O. Festival 2007 is specifically oriented towards raising funds to cover the necessary cost of building repairs to keep The Hope Chest in operation. There are many ways in which residents of Victoria and the surrounding area can help. Among the needs are items for door prizes and raffle drawings, sponsors to cover travel expenses for some of the musicians (who are all donating their time), personnel to work admissions, direct parking and provide security, advertising sponsors (...and the list goes on!). Also, keep in mind that since The Hope Chest is a non-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible.

Support has already been coming in from around the community, but there is still much to be done. Anyone wanting to provide assistance in relation to the festival in the form of donations of any kind may contact event coordinator Anita Staffeldt. You may also make donations directly to The Hope Chest by contacting executive director Jim Wilson. Join us in our effort so that Victoria can enable The Hope Chest to continue in their service to the community. Together, we CAN make a difference!

Tickets are on sale at Cavendar's Boots, The Hope Chest, Saenz Motors, La Tejanita Restaurant, The Cabinet Shop, and Jcat Enterprises.
