LEARNING BEGINS --- WITH A CHILD WHEN THEY ARE BORN......LEARNING TO WALK AND TALK.
THE VALUBLE LESSONS OF LIFE --- ARE MORE THAN LIKELY TAUGHT TO US BY OUR PARENTS.
BUT AT A POINT IN EVERY CHILD'S LIFE...THAT RESPONSIBILITY IS PASSED ON TO A TEACHER. CONTINUING TO GUIDE A CHILD DOWN THE PATH OF LIFE.
AND SOME OF THOSE TEACHERS LEAVE LESSONS THAT LAST FOR A LIFETIME. AND THAT DESCRIBES 2ND GRADE EDUCATOR TERRY KRUEGER OF MISSION VALLEY ELEMENTARY. TEACHER TERRY KRUEGER IS CHALLENGING HER 2ND GRADERS TO BE INTERESTED IN READING. SHE IS HELPING TO BUILD A STRONG VOCABULARY WITH HER STUDENTS, TEACHING THEM NEW WORDS, THEN HAVING HER STUDENTS WRITE SENTENCES WITH THOSE WORDS. " I just like to see them learn, because they are like sponges. They love to learn, and that's what it's all about. Just watching kids eyes." WITH 37 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN TEACHING, MISS KRUEGER KNOWS THE VALUE OF ENCOURAGEMENT WITH STUDENTS IN THE CLASSROOM. SHE OFTEN USES A BUDDY SYSTEM WITH STUDENTS WHO ARE STRONG IN ACADEMICS, PARING THEM WITH STUDENTS WHO MAY BE STRUGGLING. SHE SAYS THAT IN MOST CASES, IT BUILDS A STRONG BOND BETWEEN BOTH STUDENTS.
