JUST A FEW GAMES LEFT IN THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL BOWL SEASON, BUT THE BOWL SEASON IS OVER FOR ONE VICTORIAN. JACOB PATEK, BACK HOME AFTER HE HAD A FINE GAME FOR HAWAII IN THE SUGAR BOWL TUESDAY NIGHT. PATEK HAS ONE COLLEGE GAME LEFT, THE HULA BOWL ALL-STAR GAME BACK IN HAWAII A WEEK FROM SATURDAY.
"It'll be a lot of fun", said Patek. "I don't know who the coaches will be yet. The owner of the bowl game called me and asked me personally if I would like to play in it. I accepted his offer. You had a great game individually in the Sugar Bowl. You tied for the team lead in tackles on the team, you had an interception, but the team lost. How disappointing was that to you? I was pretty disappointed in the way we lost. We got almost shut out, scoring just three points in the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter we put up one touchdown. Defensively, we played as hard as we could. I feel I played a pretty good game, as well as several other guys on the defense. We had several receivers who stood out, but it was a little too late." BY THE WAY, REPORTS OUT OF DALLAS ARE THAT SMU HAS EXTENDED AN OFFER TO HAWAII'S JUNE JONES TO BE ITS NEXT FOOTBALL COACH. REPORTEDLY THE MUSTANGS ARE OFFERING TO JONES BETWEEN 1.7 AND TWO MILLION DOLLARS PER SEASON.
