GIVING THEIR TIME, PATIENCE AND SKILL.
TEACHERS USE THEIR TALENTS EACH DAY, TO INSTRUCT OUR STUDENTS --- AND IT TAKES MORE THAN JUST PREPARING A LESSON PLAN.
IT ALSO MEANS BEING A GOOD LISTENER.
STUDENTS GATHER ON THE CARPET, AT THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY TO HEAR THEIR TEACHER ALICE MARTINEZ READ FROM A NOVEL EVERY DAY.
THEN AFTER A FEW SHORT MINUTES, THE 3RD GRADE CLASS AT SMITH ELEMENTARY IS WORKING HARD, PRACTICING HANDWRITING, READING AND MATH.
Alice Martinez says her students are hard workers.
<". They really really put forth. They know, If I do well now, I have time later on and I can be more care free.">
<" I've been having D's on my report card. And with Miss Martinez help, I was the only person in my class to get straight A's" says student Jason Drane<"She takes time to help me with my work and shows me how to do it."> comments student Curtis Ross
SHE SAYS THAT HER THRILL IN TEACHING IS SEEING THEM GROW AND JUST BEING THERE. BUILDING THEIR SELF ESTEEM, AND SHOWING THAT YOU CARE IS WHAT IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
3rd grade student, Jada Beasley commented,"What makes her so cool, is that she helps me when I have trouble with something. And she helps to explain my math."
ONE STUDENT READ HIS LETTER OF NOMINATION FOR HIS TEACHER.
HE SIMPLY STATING THAT SHE MADE A DIFFERENCE IN HIS LIFE.
Student Nicolas Bennette says," Miss Martinez is a good teacher and a good inspiration to me. She believes in God Like me and she teaches me well. I really want this to be a special year for her>"Sometimes you get these little notes that say thank you. Cause it's not always academics. But also listening to what they have. Because they go thru trials too, Like everyone else." Alice Martinez\Eductor Of The Week
