This Thursday morning is starting off as a dark, cloudy, and gloomy day, but some sections of our viewing area will have conditions that will get worse before they get better. Newscenter 25 meteorologist David Harker is showing on our Detar Dopplar 2500 that here in the immediate Victoria area there is heavy mist or even light drizzle. Moving further up U.S. 59 towards Houston, those conditions are heavier with rain. There is a Tornado Watch in effect to the northeast of Victoria in Jackson, Wharton and Matagorda Counties and regions on into the Houston and east into Louisiana. Those radar can be seen by clicking on the “Weather” tab of this website. These images are refreshed every few minutse to help you track immediate storm activity. The Tornado Watch is in effect until 1:00pm this afternoon. A Tornado Watch means conditions in the “watch” area are unstable and have the potential of spawning a tornado. There is also the potential for damaging winds and large hail. We will be updating this website throughout the morning, and if conditions change, we will break into our television programming if necessary.
