Texas Drive-Inn on South Laurent tops this week's list with 18 demerits. Food was found uncovered, employees were using bare hands to fill cups with ice, and there was no soap in the men's restroom.
Fourteen demerits were given to Victoria's Incredible Pizza. Employees were not seen washing their hands between handling dirty and clean dishes, the hand sink in the dishroom was blocked and the soda nozzles were dirty.
Next we go to Don Jose, which received 11 demerits. Employees were not washing their hands at the designated hand sink, raw meat was stored above cooked food and the food thermometer was broken.
The Popey's Fried Chicken in the 8700 block of North Navarro was given 10 demerits. Like the other locals, hand washing was an issue. Hands must be washed in the designated hand sink. Spray bottles were not labeled and the spatualas and ice machine were not in good repair.
Tejanita Seafood also received 10 demerits. Food containers were stored over uncovered food and the spray bottles need to be labeled.
During a 3rd visit to the Subway in the 3800 block of North Navarro inspectors found employees still not washing their hands before putting on gloves or between glove changes. Management was to have a meeting the next morning with employees to go over hand washing procedures. Inspectors also found the hot water in the restroom still was not hot enough, so a plumber was to be called in.
