THESE 3RD GRADE STUDENTS AT BLOOMINGTON ELEMENTARY ARE REVIEWING THE MATH STRATEGIES THAT TEACHER LOUISE TORRES HAS TAUGHT THEM THRU OUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. GETTING THEM READY FOR THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL, 4TH GRADE.
"When I teach, and I'm at the overhead, I'm constantly scanning the room, and your aware of the children you have in your classroom that you know when their not getting it. And those are the kids you will start to give attention when your one on one." says 3rd Grade Teacher Louise Torres.

IN ADDITION TO ACADEMICS THE CLASS IS REFERRED TO AS AN ESL CLASS. ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. MOST STUDENTS SPEAK SPANISH IN THE CLASS. SO FROM LANGUAGE SKILLS TO MATH AND ALL OTHER SUBJECTS, HER STRESS IS EXCELLENCE FOR NOW AND THE FUTURE.

SHE SEES THE HUNGER FOR KNOWLEDGE IN THE STUDENTS EYES. AND WHEN SHE SEES THE LIGHT BULB OF UNDERSTANDING GO OFF, SHE KNOWS THAT IT'S ALL WORTH THE EXTRA EFFORT.
