SHE NOT JUST HELPING HER STUDENTS DEVELOP ACADEMICALLY, BUT EMOTIONALLY AS WELL.
IT'S THE FIRST PART OF THE DAY FOR THESE 1ST GRADE STUDENTS AT O'CONNOR ELEMENTARY. TEACHER ELVA GONZALES IS PREPARING HER STUDENTS FOR ALL THE ACTIVITIES OF THE DAY. ONE OF THOSE IS HELPING THEM WITH THEIR SPELLING.
SHE HAS A LIST OF WORDS THAT SHE CHALLENGES HER STUDENTS ON. BUT ACADEMICS IS NOT THE ONLY CONCERN FOR THIS EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK. SHE CARES ABOUT THEIR EMOTIONAL NEEDS.

MRS GONZALES SAY THAT BEING ORGANIZED AND HAVING A ROUTINE IS THE KEY TO GIVING THE STUDENTS ASSURANCE AND THE CONFIDENCE TO GROW. GIVING THEM THE INFORMATION THEY CAN USE FOR A LIFETIME..

MRS. GONZALES HAS BEEN TEACHING STUDENTS OVER 30 YEARS. AND HER LEGACY CONTINUES WITH PAST STUDENTS WHO STOP BY THE CLASSROOM JUST TO SAY HI AND SAY HOW MUCH THEY APPRECIATE HER. BUT HER HOPE IS THAT THEY SHARE THAT KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS AS THEY GROW.
