Tickets are now on sale for Theatre Victoria’s summer musical
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, this multi-colored musical extravaganza is perfect of audiences of all ages and is directed by Scott Mohon with choreography by Chelsea Hengst and music direction by Beverly Cheshire.

The Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colors comes to vibrant life in this delightful musical parable. Joseph is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams, and his father's favorite son. When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged. He is purchased by Potiphar where thwarting advances from Potiphar's wife lands him in jail. When news of Joseph's gift to interpret dreams reaches the Pharaoh (wryly and riotously depicted as Elvis), Joseph is well on his way to becoming second in command. Eventually his brothers, having suffered greatly for betraying him, unknowingly find themselves groveling at the feet of the brother they betrayed but no longer recognize. After testing their integrity, Joseph reveals himself, which leads to a heartfelt reconciliation of the sons of Israel.

Set to an engaging cornucopia of musical styles, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless. Audiences can expect songs inspired by country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n' roll. John Peters of the Sunday Times said that Joseph was an "enchanting musical [that] explodes like glittering fireworks. A brilliant celebration of words, music and color. The best kind of feel-good show, unashamed, warm-hearted and irresistible."

The production features 39 volunteer performers from throughout the South Texas region.

All performances take place at the Dr. Charles and Mary Katherine Borchers Performance Hall in the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts at 214 North Main Street in downtown Victoria.
