Hurricane Dolly is now over land in south Texas near Brownsville. After slamming ashore with winds in excess of 100 miles per hour, winds have now decreased to 85 mph. Further weakening is expected now that the eye of the storm is over land and is no longer fueled by the warm Gulf waters. At 4:00pm Victoria time, the center of Hurricane Dolly was at latitude 26.6 north and longitude 97.6 west. It is moving to the northwest at 8 mph.Rain bands from the hurricane continue to spin off, and Victoria will be experiencing periods of rain through the night and into tomorrow. Some of the showers could be heavy, though any severe weather is not expected at this time.
