FOR THE VIPER FOOTBALL TEAM, THIS WEEK HAS BEEN A BYE WEEK, NOT AN OFF WEEK.
THE VIPERS HAVE NOT BEEN OFF FROM WORKING OUT, THEY'VE BEEN GETTING AFTER IT, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT PLAYING A GAME.
I ASKED COACH MICKEY FINLEY THE MAIN THINGS THEY ARE WORKING ON AFTER WINNING THEIR OPENER OVER SAN ANTONIO TAFT.
"Probably our number one thing is conditioning", said Finley. "We'll try to get into better shape. We've been working the hill over there pretty good, trying to get into better shape, and then just small things. All those penalties, the hill gets all of that, that'll solve a lot of our problems. Silly penalties, unnecessary mistakes, things that can be corrected very easy by just being more attentive to what we're doing. We're really working on that this week. Do you look to tweak anything offensively or defensively this week after game one? We always do that. We almost approached it like a scrimmage last week. We knew we'd have this week off to get some things done. We were very basic last week, although you did see some of our blitzes, and you'll continue to see us add to that blitz package. We're doing a lot of things, tweaking a lot of things, trying to get better."
A WEEK FROM FRIDAY NIGHT, THE VIPERS VISIT THE EL CAMPO RICEBIRDS.
