Written by Steve Broussard

ABOUT 25 GRANDPARENTS WERE SPECIAL GUEST OF HONOR FOR A LUNCHEON AT WILLIAM WOOD ELEMENTARY.
STUDENTS FROM KINDER TO 5TH GRADE, WERE ABLE TO SHARE THEIR LUNCH HOUR.
<"Well, their little one time and they grow up in a hurry.">Geraldine Benglar\GrandparentMegan Beard\Granddaughter
<"They mean a lot to me, their like the best people in my family. My grandma likes to bake us a lot of good treats. And I just love my grandma and grandpa.">
SOME WOULD SAY THAT GRANDPARENTS OFTEN DO MOST OF SPOILING. GOING ON FISHING TRIPS, TAKING THEM SHOPPING, OR JUST GOING OUT FOR ICE CREAM.
BUT IT'S A SMALL PRICE JUST TO SPEND TIME WITH THEM.
<"They want to go to McDonalds all the time.">Curtis Koopman\Grandparent<"I think it's just wonderful. The kids get to have grandparents and show their school off and it's just really great.">Clay Maxwell\Grandparent
AND AS ONE GRANDPARENT CELEBRATED THE DAY, SHE WAS REMEMBERING THE TIMES WHEN SHE ATTENDED WILLIAM WOOD ELEMENTARY.
<"I started here in 1955, 53 years ago. My mother worked in the cafeteria. So I really started in Kindergarten, but they didn't have kindergarten. I just came with her here to school.">Connie Filey\Grandparent
BUT ONE OF THE BEST THINGS ABOUT DOING THIS STORY, IS JUST SPENDING TIME WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS 8 YEARS OLD.
NIKANDRA, AND I ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING FUN TO DO EVERY WEEKEND.
AT WILLIAM WOOD ELEMENTARY, STEVE BROUSSARD, NEWSCENTER 25.
