AT THE START OF THIS WEEK, THE ST. JOE FOOTBALL TEAM WAS STARTING ITS BYE WEEK. DURING PRACTICE TUESDAY, THE BYE WEEK GOT CHANGED DRAMATICALLY.
THAT'S WHEN THE FLYERS FOUND OUT THEY NOW HAVE A FOOTBALL GAME HERE THIS FRIDAY NIGHT. WITH THAT CAME A MAJOR CHANGE IN PRACTICE FOR THE FLYERS, AND I ASKED TWO OF THEM HOW BIG ARE THE CHANGES RIGHT NOW. "It changed it a lot", said defensive tackle Robert Gray. "We started off a little unfocused and just going through the motions. Now we really have to step up the intensity." "It's a big change", said wide receiver/cornerback Dion Ruiz. "We didn't have practice on Monday because we didn't think we had a game. Tuesday we had a lot of extra conditioning to make up for Monday's practice that we missed. Anything extra that's been put into practice this week besides conditioning? Now that we have their game film in, we'll just run plays according to their defense and how they set up. We'll look at their offensive tendencies and run plays against those, too. We're really trying to put a lot more time in. We just got the film today, so we're really trying to step up the game-watching and then the preparation." THE FLYERS NOW WILL HOST DANBURY FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7:30 AT PATTI WELDER STADIUM.
