THE RESULTS RECENTLY RELEASED FROM VERIZON'S "BIG CITY WIRELESS USE STUDY" REVEALS THAT VERIZON WIRELESS

"Our customers back two years ago only sent 350,000 text messages , now they're sending 2,000,000 text messages, says Verizon Spokesperson, Casey Housworth.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE STUDIES SPECIFIC NUMBERS--- IN APRIL 2006---THERE WERE 349,512 TEXT MESSAGES SENT AND RECEIVED BY VERIZON WIRELESS CUSTOMERS IN VICTORIA---ONE YEAR LATER IN APRIL 2007---650,133 TEXT MESSAGES WERE SENT AND RECEIVED---AND IN APRIL 2008 2-MILLION 161-THOUSAND 90 TEXT MESSAGES WERE SENT AND RECEIVED BY VERIZON WIRELESS CUSTOMERS IN VICTORIA.

SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS THE TEXT MESSAGING APPEAL ?

It's a great way to keep in touch with people, it's easy and it's convenient. Those are a few reasons why many people say they would rather text message than talk on their cell phones.

And texter, Elizabeth Martinez says, "I just prefer text messaging and ya know sometimes I'm in class or I'm at work and I really can't talk on the phone, so it just comes in handy and I text a lot."

ON AVERAGE, MARTINEZ SAYS SHE USES ABOUT 2500 TEXT MESSAGES A MONTH AND RARELY TALKS ON HER CELL PHONE.

AND THEN THERE IS OTHERS WHO DON'T NECESSARILY HAVE A PREFERENCE BETWEEN TEXTING AND TALKING--BUT OFTEN APPRECIATE THE QUIRKS OF THAT COME WITH TEXT MESSAGING.

"I'm not a hard-core texter, but it is very handy if you need to get at a friend real quick," says texter, Jonathan Sixtos.

"Sometimes you don't have time to ya know text message--i mean talk on the phone so ya know texting will get to the point real quick," says texter, Edgar Luna.
