Another week of better-than-average movies roll into town—everything from a big movie star drama to a feel good sports flick and the first horror movie of the season.

“Quarantine” is a remake of a Spanish thriller, the story of a TV reporter who goes with the fire department to investigate blood curdling screams coming from an apartment building. They find an old woman infected with something infectious that turns you into a vicious monster. In order to protect the public, the reporter and the firemen are quarantined, trapped in a building full of ravenous monsters.
“The Express” is the true story of Ernie Davis, the first African American to win the Heisman Trophy back in the turbulent 60s. Like a running back with his downfield blockers, “The Express” is a feel-good civil rights drama made all the more potent because it wraps its uplifting story in the trappings of a sports movie.

“City of Ember” is a strange little young adult adventure, the dystopian story of a future where humanity lives in cities deep underground. Now the cities are crumbling and food supplies are running out, so two teens decide to make an illegal break for the surface. Bill Murray plays the corrupt mayor determined to stop them from leaving his city, in this teen-friendly adventure.
And finally, “Body of Lies” is a complex political thriller from Ridley
Scott, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. This is a brainy thriller about a CIA operative tracking down a high-ranking terrorist in Jordan. It’s nice to see an adult-level thriller after all the mindless mayhem of summer.

“The Happening” and “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” will rule the home DVD charts, but by far the best of this week’s new releases is “The Visitor,” the story of a sad-sack college professor whose life is energized when he finds that two illegal immigrants have moved into his apartment. This is one of the best dramas of the year.
And that’s what’s new in theaters this week, I’m
Sean McBride the movie guy for Newscenter 25.
