Sports Clips on North Navarro is honoring our veterans by participating in Operation Uplink. As part of this event, Sports Clips will donate one dollar from every hair cut service to the Veterans of Foreign Wars to help military personnel keep in touch with their families during the holidays. Last year's campaign saw the chain nationally raise 90 thousand dollars to provide over 800 thousand minutes of talk time for our service men and women. For this year's campaign, Sports Clips employee Tiffany Perez says the goal is a little bit more ambitious.

"Our goal is to reach a hundred thousand dollars and for us to reach that, each store in the United States has to at least get donated or raised 170 dollars."

Perez says business has increased since the campaign kicked off a few weeks ago and she's proud to be a part of something that's helping out our men and women overseas, especially since she has family members there herself.

"I think its good, I have a few cousins over there, I have a female cousin that's on her third tour right now, so I'm excited, you know I hope she gets to call home."

Sports Clips customer Gary Chavez says as a veteran himself, he's proud to be a part of an event like this which helps our troops overseas.

"Well, being a veteran myself, I think it's great, you know, again people can all and make sure their troops are safe and doing well. I'm glad I can help in some way to be able to offer them the opportunity to do that."

Operation Uplink continues through Saturday and donations can be made to the Sports Clips at 8806 North Navarro. From Victoria, Excelsha Thomas, Newscenter 25.
