FIVE MONTHS AFTER THE SHINER LADY COMANCHE SOFTBALL TEAM WON STATE, EIGHT OF THOSE STATE CHAMPS ARE NOW GOING FOR ANOTHER UIL STATE 1A TITLE.
THEY ARE MEMBERS OF THE LADY COMANCHES REGIONAL CHAMPION VOLLEYBALL TEAM.
THE LADY COMANCHES BEAT YORKTOWN IN THE REGIONAL FINALS IN BRENHAM TO MAKE IT THIS FAR, AND THEY KNOW WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO WIN.
"We're going to have to have good service points and get the balls to the front so we can run offense", said setter Amber Shimek. "Our service needs to be very vital", said outside hitter Ieisha Flowers. "If we can't serve well, we can't run anything. And if we can't run anything, we can't score points." "The only way you can score points is if you serve the ball tough and you give the other team a chance to come back at you", said outside hitter Alyssa Strauss. "Then you get the ability to go right back at them." THEY TALKED WITH OUR ROSS KINNAIRD. SHINER PLAYS IN THE STATE 1A SEMIFINALS FRIDAY MORNING AT 11 AT TEXAS STATE IN SAN MARCOS.
