FINALLY, THIS IS CAT FARRIOR, A NINE-YEAR-OLD STUDENT AT AMERICAN KARATE INSTITUTE.

CAT AND HER PARTNER, ASHLEY SANCHEZ, RECENTLY WON A MAJOR TROPHY FOR BOWSTAFF FORM AT THE 80TH TEXAS FOUR SEASONS KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP. CAT DID THIS DESPITE OVERCOMING A PHYSICAL PROBLEM THAT SHE'S HAD ALL HER LIFE. CAT HAS NO PECTORAL MUSCLES, BUT DESPITE THAT SHE EXCELS AND INSPIRES AT THE SAME TIME.
"It's more fun because I'm really good at it and because of that I get to help people", said Farrior. "I really like doing that so it's a lot of fun."
"Don I've been teaching 41 years, I've seen a lot of kids", said AKI owner Ralph Jaschke. "She's one of my top inspirational stories. We took Cat because she has difficulty sparring because she lacks that muscle in her chest. We were afraid she would get hurt, so I started teaching her the bowstaff and she excelled. She worked really hard and this girl can move that stick fast. It's been really inspirational for me and the other kids. She got other kids interested in it. She's teaching some of the other kids on Tuesday and Thursday before class and they're having a lot of fun with it and really excelling at it. I'm really pleased."
AMERICAN KARATE INSTITUTE WILL HOST A MARTIAL ARTS FESTIVAL THIS SATURDAY MORNING STARTING AT NINE.
