Harris County Judge Ed Emmett was sworn-in to office Tuesday morning. The first woman elected as Harris County District Attorney did the honors. Soon after the swearing in, Emmett got right to work, swearing in the new district clerk. Right after that, the business of commissioner's court got underway.

It'll be interesting to see how things play out in commissioner's court for the next few years because for the first time in a long time, there are both Democrats and Republicans in a lot of the elected offices, which may lead to a tug of war in Harris County politics.
