A BRAND NEW BASEBALL TEAM IS COMING TO VICTORIA IN THE SUMMER OF '09.
VICTORIA IS GETTING AN EXPANSION TEAM IN THE FOUR-TEAM TEXAS COLLEGIATE BASEBALL LEAGUE. THE TEAM WILL START PLAY AT RIVERSIDE STADIUM IN EARLY JUNE AND WILL HAVE 24 HOME GAMES. THE TCL IS A WOODEN BAT LEAGUE FOR CURRENT COLLEGE PLAYERS. "The excitement level is unparalleled", said Victoria GM Brad Haynes. "The startup from the ground floor to putting something on the field in Victoria in the first week of June is something that keeps me awake at night. It should be more exciting for the residents as well." "Absolutely ecstatic", said TCL President Uri Geva. "I couldn't smile more when Tracy said they're in the TCL we were thrilled. This is an expansion that's in the right place. My partners and I had talked for a long time that if it wasn't for the fact that we live in Bryan-College Station, Victoria is where we'd put a team." "This is actually a dream come true for me", said Victoria TCL owner Tracy Young. "When I realized I couldn't play, I decided this was something I wanted to do and I've been working my whole life to get to this point."
