A Bloomington coach was led away from campus in handcuffs Tuesday afternoon.

Joe Townsend was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of indecency with a child with sexual contact and improper relationship between an educator and student. Both of those charges are out of Brown County in Central Texas. Bond is set at $25,000 per charge.

This is the first year for Townsend has coached in Bloomington. Townsend coached Junior Varsity volleyball at Bloomington High School and according to Paul Baird, the Bloomington Athletic Director, Townsend was going to be the head coach of the boys' basketball team. Baird said Townsend was doing "a good job" in the coaching position and was also keeping stats for the football team.

The charges against Townsend originated out of Brown County, Texas and there are no accusations of any wrong-doing while with the Bloomington School District.
