Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Refugio Field

All passengers are safe after a plane went down Wednesday afternoon in Refugio County.

According to Refugio County Sheriff's Office officials, a plane went down around 1:50 Wednesday afternoon, landing on a private ranch in Refugio. The accident happened about 17 miles northwest of the Aransas Airport.

DPS dispatched a helicopter to the scene. Three passengers were on board, officials say all were safe and managed to escape injury during the crash.

Officials are saying the cause of the crash was due to engine failure. There was no damage to the aircraft itself.
