The School of Nursing at the University of Houston-Victoria is now nationally accredited.

Both the graduate and undergraduate programs have received full accreditation for the next five years. The news came after the school's first attempt at national accreditation.

The nursing program started in the fall of 2006. For current and future students, this seal of approval will be vital for their careers.

"Our students wouldn't be eligible for admissions into programs like masters and doctorates if we weren't nationally accredited," said Denise Neill, RN to BSN coordinator.

"I was very excited to find out that the program has received their national accreditation because I do plan on pursuing my masters when I graduate in May," said student Priscilla Layton.

Layton is one of 114 students taking classes at UHV, Sugar Land and Katy through the School of Nursing. She is a registered nurse pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
