It's A Crime That Crushes A Woman Emotionally And This Month, Which Is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Many Victims Are Making Their Voices Heard To Try To Make A Difference.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Women's Crisis Center for Mid-Coast Family Services.

A Special Victims Tribute was held in Victoria.

The theme is renewing hope and rebuilding lives.

Law officers as well as survivors were in attendance at Athey Nature Trail, behind the Hiller House on Vine Street.

25 years ago, Mid-Coast Family Services opened up their Women's Crisis Center.

The event calls attention to the reality of National domestic violence awareness.

This crime has claimed the lives of 136 women last year in Texas.

Survivors of domestic violence read the names of some of the women who were not only victims , but they were killed by their husbands or partners

T-Shirts hanging on a nearby clothes line, are reminders of what children see in a home, that is plagued by domestic violence.

it's a story that hits home for Robin Vasquez and Sandy Hogan, who are survivors of a violent home with an abusive husband.

"On December 22nd, 2007 my husband brutally beat me and left me for dead in my home with my 3 children inside." says Robin Vasques, Domestic Violence Survivor

"He was so angry at the fact that I could not carry his children and I could not give him a family. He told me how ugly I was and how horrible I was that a woman like me who wasn't able to have a child was worthless. He said God made a mistake and he made you, you were supposed to be a man." Says Sandy Hogan, Domestic Violence Survivor

With these brave women stepping forward and sharing their stories, the hope is that it will give women the courage to get out of abusive relations ships before it is too late.
