Exelon Plans to Apply for Nuclear Permit
Local
Written by Stephanie Kusy
Exelon nuclear officials said Victoria will see the firm build one or possibly two reactors in our hometown, but first it must overcome some Texas-sized problems.
Sometime in the next three months, Exelon will file for an Early Site Permit application with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The review process is long, taking about two years.

Exelon is hoping to one day build a power plant on property located on 77 south.

The NRC will take a look at environmental and construction concerns as well as a host of other potential issues. The review process will take about 2 years. While the company plans to apply for the permit soon, they still have a long road ahead of them.

Originally Exelon wanted to apply for a Construction and Operating license, but because of the economy, decided to pull back.
