Texas Author Speaks About Experience, Sacrifice
Local
Written by Stephanie Kusy
He's a writer, entrepreneur and 9-11 tower survivor. James Hime spoke at the Victoria public library Wednesday about the sacrifices many great writers made in order to become successful.
If you're not a writer or do not like to read, this mystery author has plenty of life experience and kept the audience on the edge of their seat.

Hime considers himself lucky to be a published author, but he's even more fortunate to be alive. He was on the 66th floor of the World Trade Center on a business trip when the 9-11 incident occurred.

"There was debris showering out of the building and papers floating above in the air," Hime said.

While the events of 9-11 left Hime traumatized, nine years later he's completed a novel about what happened that day.

"It's not so much about my experiences, but it was a way for me to purge myself of the feelings of that morning," he said.

For the Texas writer, speaking in Victoria is nothing new. He visited a few years ago to talk about mystery novels and life experiences.

"When he left we were all raving about what a good speaker he was," said Susan Hyak, president of Friends of the Library. "We liked his books, and he was very entertaining."

During his presentation, Hime talked about the sacrifices made by famous writers.
